Academic reading: Part three

Here I discuss some of the key ways you can tell if you’ve gone deep enough with your academic reading. The main goal here is to develop a confidence in your knowledge which I described as ‘unshakable’. This means knowing what you know and also knowing what you don’t yet know.

Conducting a deep dive into academic reading is how you can develop this sort of confidence. But eventually you’ll dive so deep that you start to find yourself in historical academic writing which might be hundreds of years old.

At this point, when the reading will often get really challenging, it's essential you reflect on what you’re trying to achieve by reading these ‘classics’. In this video I offer some key principles to guide your deep reading.
