Managing your PhD supervisor

Supervising is impossible to get right. Even the best of us will get it wrong from time to time. In this video, I’ll discuss some key ways to think about your supervisor and why in most situations, a bit of compassion is required.

No matter how we might understand the reasons behind why poor supervision is happening, we must be proactive and do something about it. That process must start with you, the post-graduate researcher.

I outline a continuum which starts with you but progresses towards seeking out support and advice from outside of your supervisory team. It's essential that you consider my ideas as broad suggestions and not as a definitive ‘how-to guide’.
